I have been sending DMCA Takedown notices to Internet service providers as I become aware of rogue sites they are hosting. However, they continue to pop up.

This post serves as a legal notice and disclaimer that no one has the right to sell or resell any of my current products or services apart from participating in company-endorsed affiliate programs (such as affiliating via Clickbank).

As much as I am trying to keep up with this digital theft, neither I nor my companies may be held responsible for the presentation, the product, the transactions or the support of products or services illegally promoted.

The kids just got off the bus and, within five minutes, you're getting snacks, emptying lunch boxes and making suggestions for how to tackle that science project--multitasking is a required skill for a mom. While doing a million things at once comes easily to some people, for others it is much more challenging. Here are some multitasking tips for becoming a multitasking master:

Make a Reasonable To-Do List

Being organized is one of the most important multitasking skills. Make a daily or weekly list of things that have to get done, as well as things you'd like to get done. Divide your to-do list into mindless versus mindful tasks.

Mindless tasks include things like emptying the dishwasher, and throwing a load of laundry in the machine.

Mindful tasks include helping children with homework, completing a project for work, or getting your financial documents ready for that meeting with your tax preparer.

In order to be an efficient multitasker, you need to choose jobs that don't require your full attention. You can fold laundry while calling the plumber or your mother-in-law. You can wipe down the kitchen counter or clip coupons while the pasta is boiling on the stove. Tasks that you can practically do in your sleep are most suited for doing at the same time as other jobs.

Designate Some Venues and Times as Good (or Not-So-Good) Places to Multitask

Is there a time of day where you feel like you are always "killing time"? Waiting in the yard for the school bus to arrive or sitting in the van while you wait for soccer practice to end are perfect examples. Use these times to sort your mail, weed a patch of the garden, or place a phone order for those vacuum bags you've been meaning to order. If your preschoolers love to linger in the tub, that's a perfect time to scrub the toilet, mop the floor, or clean the mirrors in that room.

As a rule, a moving car should be a no-go zone for multitasking. Focusing on traffic, the road and weather conditions, and your family in the car is all you should worry about. Even hands-free talking can be highly distracting, meaning you neither have your full attention on the road nor on the person with whom you are speaking.

Remember That There Are Limitations to What Anyone Can Do Efficiently

People often multitask because they believe that important people are busy people. When you see a businessperson running across the street, trying to hail a cab while carrying on an intense work conversation, don't be convinced that he or she is doing things right. You can't check your email every two minutes and also get several other tasks done at the same time. Multitasking is a term that originated in the computer age. Remember that people are not computers. Give the important tasks and people in your life the time they deserve. And reward yourself for a job well done.

My answer to this question will require answering the question with several questions.

First you'll want to ask yourself, what are you interested in?

Then, what do you know a little something about?

There are many sources as well as an affiliate program that would match just about any interest you may have or know something about.

Let's see if we can't simplify the process of choosing the best affiliate programs to promote.

This is my favorite source of the most popular programs. They tell you the percentage you'll receive on each sale and they also put it in dollars and cents. They also reveal other stats about each program that will help you to determine if the program you chose is right for you to promote.

There are more equally as credible affiliate program sources on the web but for the sake of simplicity and to keep this article to a minimum length I'm going to limit these resources to the top three. If you like, you can simply go to your favorite search engine and continue your search foe "Affiliate Program Resources".

Knowing a little something about what you want to sell will be to your advantage but not required. After all, this is The Information Super Highway and whatever information we need can be found here. The tools at are disposal are many. You just need to know where they are and what they will tell you.

Google.com would be a good place to start your search. If you type "affiliate programs" into the search box you you will get a list of literally millions of potential programs. At the time of this writing (10-12-07) there were 111,000,000 possible affiliate programs to chose from. That blows my mind.

You don't have to weed through that many sites. The first few pages should give you a few ideas as to what you want to promote. Try and stick with something you've got some background in.

For example, let's say you've been working in a pet store for awhile. See if you can't find an affiliate program related to pets. Maybe pet food, pet training, pet care, etc. Perhaps you'll want to target specific pets like dogs or dog training. Dog Training and Dog Breeds are very "HOT" Markets right now and I suspect they will be for quite sometime to come.

Let's say you've chosen Dog Breeds as a topic of interest. It's time to research that topic and see if there is indeed a market for it.

Go to Overture.com and type Dog Breeds into the search box. I found the amount of searches done for this topic to be 184,184 in April 2006. This would certainly be a topic I'd want to further investigate.

I'd follow that bit of information up by going to Nichebot.com and typing those same key words into the search box. The information returned will prove to be an invaluable tool for making you affiliate program choice. Pay particular attention to the far right column. The numbers that are closest to zero determine less competition. Look for something in that category and copy those keywords back to Google.com and do another search. I'm sure you'll be able to find a program to join and promote.

Try and find a Program with at least a 50% commission, which comes out to at least $20. for you. More if possible. You can chose a program with a lesser commission if it is what's called a high ticket item. A good rule of thumb to remember is "It takes as much effort to promote High Ticket Items as it does to promote a program for a $20.00 Sale".

So why waste your time and advertising dollars promoting products that only bring a $20.00 commission when the same amount of time and money can bring you a commission of $200.00. It's good sense and the math tells the story as well.

The time and effort spent promoting small ticket items is the same as high ticket items. The benefit is you don't have to make as many sales with the more expensive item as you do with the smaller one.

The best advice I can give is to be patient, utilize as many free resources to promote your programs as you can. There are many. Get your own domain and web host. You'll want to put together a site that is unlike the generic affiliate site that the owner provides. This will put you in a different category as you will not be promoting the same page as a thousand other marketers. It will also make you credible and establish you as someone who is serious about their business on the web.

Patience is a Virtue. Possess it if you can and by the way, Happy Marketing!

It seems in this day and age of exploding online business start ups on the Internet, a lot of effort goes into creating the perfect online presence. Including website design, SEO optimizing, marketing and promoting. But so often, one of the biggest things that can make or break your business is having great customer service. Sure you can have a fantastic website, great products and mass marketing campaigns going on. But if your customers feel your customer service is awful then your business will surely suffer for it.

You have to look at it this way. If you walked into a store you would surely expect the owner or sales person to be courteous and helpful right? Well, so do your customers online. When I say "customers", I'm also referring to businesses that offer intangible services and have clients also. Without customers and clients where would your business be? They are your greatest asset and you should treat them as such. So now that we've established why customer service is so important, what are the techniques for implementing the greatest customer service possible?

Let me offer you an outline to help the bigger picture come together for you.

1. The Golden Rule Method. We all need to remember the golden rule of "Treat others as you would want to be treated". This definitely applies when it comes to customer service. Give your customers the same treatment and attention that you would expect from a business. A good business that is.

2. The Customer Is Always Right. NEVER argue with a customer or client, even if they are wrong. Instead respond to their question or complaint in a polite and non-threatening manner. Do your best to explain yourself and offer answers to whatever issue they are having. For example if a customer purchases a product from your website and complains that they thought it would be bigger and are not happy with it. The best thing to do is to in this case would be to respond and tell them that you are sorry they are not happy with the item and offer A). They can return the item for a refund or B). Depending on your policies, offer them a website credit. Both examples of course are based on whatever policies you have in place. If you have a policy that says no refunds or exchanges. Instead, offer them an online voucher of so much off their next purchase if that is all you can give. But don't not do something for this customer or you might as well wave good-bye to them for any possibility!
Pity that they will order from you again. Not only that but you probably won't gain any of their friends or family as customers either. Of course there are customers out there that can be dishonest and take advantage of situations so you have to use your judgment per individual situations. But for the most part it's always wise to err on the side that the customer is always right and offer what you can to rectify the situation in hopes that they will continue to purchase from you and tell others what a great company your company is.

3. Remember it's email. While email is a great communication tool, it doesn't have the ability to convey verbal expression. Unlike communicating on the phone where people can hear the expression in your voice. So always be aware of this when sending your responses to your customers and try to write them in such a way that expresses their importance to you and your concern for whatever issue they have.

4. Be Accessible. There's nothing worse than feeling like the customer service of a business is not very accessible. Always have an area on your website for customer service inquiries. Don't let your customers feel like they can't come ask you a question at anytime. A good idea is to add at the end of your response to your customers something like "If I can answer any more questions or assist you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me again". This will let them know that they can come ask you anything, anytime. Some customers and clients can tend to not want to "bother" you. But you want them to know they are not bothering you with questions, concerns or comments they may have. Being accessible not only keeps the communication lines open but it builds that so important trust you want your customers and clients to have for you and your company.

5. Don't Make Them Wait. No one likes to wait for a response from a business. I'm sure many of you have sat on hold while calling a company and it feels like forever. Customers get frustrated with this. Unless your company has a huge customer service response team it may be unrealistic for you to respond to customer service inquiries immediately. But you can at least let them know that you received their customer service inquiry by implementing an autoresponder through your email client. This would be a email they would receive right after contacting customer service telling them that you have received their email, letting them know how important they are to you and giving them a time line as to when they can expect a response from you. For example a autoresponse email might say "Thank you for contacting "Your Company Name Here". Your inquiry is very important to us and we wanted to let you know that we will respond to your inquiry promptly within the next 24 hours. Thank you and we look forward to speaking with you shortly." -Signed by Your name and Your Company.

6. Follow Up. A nice customer service touch is to follow up with the customer. Say for example you have a customer that has a problem ordering or issue from a client that subscribes to your service. A simple email a day or so later asking them if they've experienced any further difficulty will be very appreciated and allow for an open door that you initiated in case they indeed are having more difficulties. Don't overdue it of course. Just the one follow up is sufficient. Some customers/clients may not respond and that's ok as no response usually means all is well. I hope the previous has been helpful and you all will go out now and perfect your customer service. Remember customer service is one of the most important aspects of your business. It is one of the big reasons that your customers will keep coming back to your company.

Credit Card Fraud: What to Do If You Become a Victim

Better Business Bureau (BBB) is warning consumers that even if their credit or debit card never leaves their sight, they could still become a victim of fraud or identity theft and need to be prepared to act quickly to minimize the damage.

The 2008 Identity Fraud Survey Report from Javelin Strategy & Research states that fraud is declining in the U.S. – down 12 percent from 2006 – and that 8.1 million Americans were actually victims of identity fraud. However, the Identity Theft Resource Center, says 127 million personal records were reported compromised in the U.S. in 2007, a six-fold increase over the previous year.

“Stolen belongings continue to be the main source of personal identity fraud in the U.S., but businesses continue to report alarming security breaches that expose millions of Americans’ identities and financial information to would-be thieves,” said Bert Hubbell, President and CEO of the BBB of MN and ND. “Identity thieves are certainly stealing some wallets, but the bigger prizes are the massive customer databases with outdated encryption security that sit like pots of gold at the end of the cyberspace rainbow.”

In late 2007 owners of the T.J. Maxx and Marshalls retail chains, reported that tens of millions of credit and debit card owners were exposed to fraud when hackers stole data while it was being transmitted wirelessly. In January, the personal information – including 150,000 social security numbers – of more than 650,000 customers of JC Penney and other major U.S. retailers was compromised when a computer tape went missing from a data storage warehouse run by Iron Mountain Inc.

BBB is encouraging consumers to become savvier and keep a close eye on their credit and debit card statements for suspicious activity. If they find their card has been stolen or if they have noticed fraudulent charges on their accounts, BBB offers the following advice that will help consumers resolve the issue as quickly as possible:

Step One: Contact the Issuer.

Credit card issuers typically have a 24-hour hotline for consumers to report fraud and theft. By law, a consumer’s maximum liability is $50 per credit card; once they have reported a loss or theft of a credit card to the issuer, consumers have no further responsibility for unauthorized charges. If the fraud involves a person’s credit card number, but not the card itself, the consumer has no liability for unauthorized use. If an ATM or debit card is lost or stolen, the amount of money someone could lose depends on how quickly they alert the issuer – if they wait too long, they could lose everything in the account.

Step Two: Contact the Authorities.

If a credit or debit card has been stolen or if the consumer has noticed fraudulent charges on their account, they can file a report with the local police. The consumer will want to get a copy of the police report to confirm the nature of the fraudulent charges with the issuer and the credit reporting bureaus, and should file reports with the Federal Trade Commission online at www.consumer.gov/sentinel.

Step Three: Contact Credit Reporting Bureaus.

There are three credit bureaus that monitor activity on consumer credit accounts: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The three bureaus can flag, or place an alert on an account for fraudulent activity, which then requires that they contact the cardholder before any new lines of credit are opened. Consumers can also ask to have an account frozen – which means their credit history can’t be reviewed by lenders and prevents new lines of credit from being opened – but keep in mind it may take several days to unfreeze accounts in the future.

Step Four: Stay Vigilant.

It’s a good idea for consumers to follow up calls to their credit card issuer or credit reporting bureaus with a letter outlining key details and summarizing when they alerted the issuer and bureau to the loss or fraud. As a victim of ID theft, consumers can receive a copy of their report free-of-charge and should review credit reports with all three bureaus for any suspicious activity. Lastly, it is important that consumers continue to keep a close eye on their credit card statements, bank accounts, and credit reports well into the future for any suspicious activity.

"Dear Recruiter, A solid background in Widget Sales makes me the perfect candidate for your position."
"Send Info"

Nobody likes to waste their time, and when a recruiter posts a listing and only gets 1 in 100 responses that are worth looking at, it's counterproductive for them.
I know for a fact that some of our site visitors go through the job listings and methodically apply to every listing in the database, no matter what the position is.

This "throw your resume at every employer and hope one sticks" approach not only makes the applicant look desperate, but it gives the entire telecommute job-seeking community a bad name. It also brings us to the next Rule...

Rule #2: Follow the application instructions.

One company had posted a listing with us that contained specific application instructions. Recently, their listing expired. When she chose not to renew, I asked her why and this was her response:

"You really, really need to instruct these folks on how to follow directions, write cover letters, apply for jobs. They're lost. So, please, don't bring any more my way."

Now, that's unfortunate. Here is a company that has telecommute openings, but you won't see them advertised because its easier for them to just hit the pavement and do their recruiting the old fashioned way.

If a listing has specific instructions on how to apply, follow them. If you don't, then the first impression you are giving to your prospective employer is that you don't follow directions.
Even if there are no specific instructions, you should always apply in a professional manner, which brings me to Rule #3...

Rule #3: Always behave in a professional, courteous manner.

Believe it or not, I recently had a complaint from both a company and an applicant when a correspondence over a job opening had escalated into threats and mud slinging.
It all started when the applicant sent an email to the employer that stated, "Send Info" and nothing more.

This is a common occurrence. While it may seem perfectly acceptable to ask for details, usually those "details" are in the job listing itself. A response to a listing should be an application. If you want to ask for more information, the interview would be the appropriate time. Chances are, if you can't apply without getting more information it's due to one of two scenarios:-The listing is really, really vague (and so most likely a scam).-You're not qualified for this position (if you're not sure if youre qualified, then you probably arent).

Unless an employer states that they don't want you to submit a resume, you should always send your resume with a cover letter.

The cover letter should be tailored to the position, not a generic version. This may mean that you have to do a little digging, call the company, etc. but it really does make an impression. It shows that you are really interested in their company, that youre resourceful and that you are professional.

Your resume should be up to date, thorough and professional. Have it done by a resume service if possible. It should not contain personal information such as height, weight or a health history. These things have nothing to do with your qualifications and don't belong on a resume.

Another thing to leave out of a resume is an explanation of why you want to work at home. This is something I see in many of the resumes posted in our database. Not only is it unprofessional to include this type of information, but more importantly- employers don't care.
What they do care about is whether or not you have the skills and experience needed to do the job and why they should hire you.

Home-based positions are rare indeed. Competition is very high, so you must present yourself as the best possible candidate right from the start. Following these basic rules will give you a much greater chance of snagging that much coveted telecommute position.

My previous review about Specialty Merchandise Corporation basically didn't recommend the opportunity because of the lack of unique marketing methods that they taught. Yes, they have a nice selection of products but the marketing was, well frankly, cheesy. I thought that was going to be the end of the story. I was wrong.

Kerry Cox who is the VP is marketing for SMC. A friend of mine took the time to get in contact with Kerry Cox and this is what was told to me;

(I called Kerry thinking that it was going to turn into a shouting match but he was incredibly professional and very cool. He basically agreed with me that a few of the marketing methods (and manuals) that SMC did in the past were not their best materials and he would love to have me review their newest manual.

I said, "Sure!" He ended up sending me a new complete Specialty Merchandise Corporation kit. I didn't want to get something for free with him thinking that I was going to give them a new, nice write up. We ended up talking about infomercial marketing for about 30 minutes and I waited for my package to arrive.

I will say right off that I was impressed with the look of the package compared to what they sold a few years ago.)

Well base off a little information he gave me; I went on and got the SMC kit for myself. The cost of it was $399 and that’s for everything, including the 30 days of free support. I open and read thru it and understood it very well, a very easy read. I went to sell it to my co-worker and only sold a few. Some people said that a lot of it look like stuff you can get out the dollar store and others just loved it and wanted to buy, but the price was to high. As I looked more into the products them self and did a few searches online. I learned a lot more about SMC. I learned that I really didn’t need them at all to sell anything or there products. Why? Because, they buy all their products over seas from the manufacturer at wide below wholesale price and then have you sell them to you family, friends, online and offline for lots more.
